About Night Guards
New York, NY general and cosmetic dentist, Dr. Andrew Reingold offers custom night guard services for patients who need to wear a nightly appliance to prevent damage to their teeth. When grinding your teeth (also called bruxism) or clenching your jaw at night while you rest is causing other health problems, our dentist, Dr. Reingold, may suggest wearing a night guard to protect your teeth and jaw. Patients who suffer from bruxism may wake up in pain or never get enough sleep because of this health problem. At Everlasting Smile, we can make a mold of your teeth to send to a dental laboratory, where your night guard will be made from high-quality, durable materials. You can settle for an over-the-counter night guard, but it will not fit your mouth perfectly, and may be uncomfortable to wear.
Sleep better. Be in less pain. Protect your teeth. These are three wonderful reasons to consider having a night guard made for your mouth. If you would like to learn more, please call and schedule a consultation at your earliest convenience.
What to Expect with Night Guards
Your dentist will make impressions of your upper and lower teeth and take digital X-rays, which will be sent to a dental laboratory. The custom-fit night guard will be crafted from high quality materials and returned to the dentist. You will have your new night guard checked and fitted by your dentist, who may make minor adjustments for comfort.
Night Guards Treatment Aftercare
While fitting the night guard, the dentist will give the patient more specific care instructions on how to clean and store your night guard. With proper care, a night guard can be used for several years. The patient should clean the mouth guard before and after each use. Your dentist will check for general wear at your regular dental appointments and determine when your night guard needs to be repaired or replaced.
Night Guards Anticipated Costs
Some or all of the cost may be covered by dental insurance if it the patient has visible wear on their teeth from bruxism. Our office can confirm your benefits through your insurance to determine your out-of-pocket cost. For patient's without insurance or if your insurance does not cover your night guard, we accept many forms of payment and have financing plans available.
