About Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are about more than just about the appearance of your teeth. Dental crowns can provide your natural teeth with protection (for weakened, decayed teeth), support (when assisting with a dental bridge), and replace broken teeth. At the practice of Dr. Andrew Reingold, we repair and protect broken teeth, deep discoloration, significant decay, and other problems with IPS e.max dental crowns to cover the entire tooth. Sometimes referred to as dental caps, our metal-free dental crowns at Everlasting Smile in New York, NY can be made with porcelain or ceramic that will be color-matched to your natural teeth.
Don't wait until the pain is unbearable, having a crown put on your tooth can be accomplished quickly. If you have a painful tooth and are anxious about seeing a dentist with the fear of having extensive dental work, let Dr. Reingold examine the situation. He can also offer patients different strategies, such as noise canceling headphones and sedation dentistry, to make the experience more tolerable. Our practice is here to provide you with high-quality general and cosmetic dentistry in a personal and caring manner. Everything is done with your comfort in mind. Call and schedule your consultation today. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

What to Expect
To create a custom crown, the dentist first prepares the tooth by removing a thin layer of enamel, then takes digital X-rays and impressions of the tooth that will be sent to the dental laboratory. A temporary crown can be placed on the tooth while the permanent, custom crown is being made. When the permanent crown is returned to the office, the dentist will carefully fit and set the crown on the tooth. The dentist may adjust the crown for a more comfortable fit.
Treatment Aftercare
Some patients may experience temporary discomfort or tooth sensitivity, but most patients do not usually have any pain after a crown is placed. With proper home care and regular dental cleanings and exams, a crown may last for 10 – 40 years, depending on the material of the crown. In some cases, a cavity or infection may develop under the tooth, which may require a root canal or other procedure.
Anticipated Costs
If the crown is considered medically necessary, dental insurance may cover some or most of the cost, so our office will check with the patient’s insurance to determine their coverage and out-of-pocket costs. Estimated costs, payment options, and financing available through our Financial Coordinator can be discussed during your consultation.
Strengthen and Protect
A crown can be used to protect a broken or decayed tooth, as well as hide a discoloration or cosmetic flaw. To fix the appearance or health of a single tooth, talk to Dr. Andrew Reingold at Everlasting Smile at a private consultation to find out if a dental crown is a good option for your needs.
