About Dental Implants

When missing a single tooth, many patients turn to the "gold standard" in tooth replacement with dental implants at Everlasting Smile. Dental implants are the most effective way to restore a natural look and functionally to the tooth because it is a long-lasting solution. By surgically placing titanium posts into the jawbone, our dentist Dr. Andrew Reingold will have a solid foundation dental crowns or bridges stay in place.

Dental implants are not removable and will not require special glues, adhesives, or limit the way you chew your food or speak. This type of restoration will look and feel like your natural teeth once the healing process is complete. Dr. Reingold will discuss with you a plan of action for implementing a dental implant treatment plan. This type of procedure will take several visits to the dentist to accomplish, however you will have a gorgeous smile and no one will ever be able to tell the difference between your real teeth and the implant. Call and schedule your consultation today.

What to Expect

Before a dental implant is placed, a thorough examination will be conducted to assess the health and strength of the gums and jawbone. If the patient is a good candidate for dental implants, digital X-rays and physical impressions will help the dentist determine the best placement for the dental implants during the procedure. Patients will be given local anesthesia and sedation if needed while the dentist places the titanium post into the jawbone. Over 3 – 6 months, the bone and implant will fuse while healing and once the implant is secure, the permanent tooth or teeth will be attached to the implant using a connector. The dentist will adjust the implant and replacement teeth for a comfortable and accurate fit.

Treatment Aftercare

Most patients have little to no pain after their dental implants are finished, but some may have temporary soreness and discomfort that can be relieved with an over-the-counter pain medication, like Aspirin or Tylenol. To prolong the life of dental implants, you should have a good home oral care routine including brushing, flossing, and rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash. Regular dental appointments for professional cleanings and dental exams are also important to implant care. Dental implants can last a long time with proper care, but may eventually need to be repaired or replaced.

Anticipated Costs

If your dental implants are considered medically necessary, your dental insurance plan might cover some or most of the costs. However, cosmetic dental implants are usually not covered by insurance. During your consultation, our office can confirm your insurance coverage and discuss payment options and financing plans.
